Meicheng mooncakes once claimed to cooperate with Michelin chefs, but it is difficult to distinguish between true and false

In a recent case of "Hong Kong Maicheng Mooncakes" sold in the Three Sheep studio, consumers complained that they were not actually produced or sold in Hong Kong, sparking resentment. During the discussion, netizens noticed that the product promotion mentioned the collaboration between Michelin master Tan Qiwen and Black Pearl chef Ugo Rinaldo.

According to the investigation, the content released on the official website of Guangzhou Meicheng Food on July 1 shows that Ugo Rinaldo and Tan Qiwen attended the Mid-Autumn Festival new product launch as the co-chefs of Hong Kong Meicheng. However, the hotel where Shanghai Puli Hotel executive chef Ugo Rinaldo is located clarified on September 18 that there is no cooperative relationship with Meicheng Mooncake, and it has not been confirmed whether it is a personal cooperation between the chefs.

At present, Meicheng mooncakes have been removed from the shelves of JD.com and Tmall stores. Meicheng Food Company has been established since 2019 and focuses on the field of high-end food souvenirs. Its product line covers festival gifts, baked cakes and other types.

In response to this incident, the Huadu District Market Supervision and Administration Bureau of Guangzhou City has made a notification, pointing out that the incident is related to two local enterprises and a Hong Kong enterprise. Hong Kong Meicheng Food Group owns the relevant trademarks and authorizes Guangzhou Meicheng to use them. At the same time, the regulatory authorities have inspected Guangzhou Meicheng’s entrusted processors, and no food safety problems have been found yet, and all the mooncakes have passed the sampling inspection. The Huadu District Market Supervision Bureau is cooperating with other relevant departments to further investigate the details of the incident and strengthen the supervision and guidance of relevant enterprises.

On the other hand, due to the suspected misleading consumers in the live broadcast, the Hefei High-tech Zone Market Supervision and Administration Bureau has initiated an investigation into Sanjiyang Network Technology Co., Ltd., and will take corresponding measures based on the investigation results.
